There's an interesting scene in the movie in which Django (played by actor Jamie Foxx) explains how to spell and pronounce his name. "D J A N G 0 - the 'j' is silent," he says. In future issues of Hot English we' ll be looking at silent letters which appear in words such as chocolate (silent second "0"), Wednesday (si lent "d") and government (Silent "n"). Talking about language, we're also looking at the pros and cons of learning either British or American English. We'll also be telling you about some of the main differences between these two varieties of English, as well as continuing with our series on UK / US words.
